Ritter Sport celebrates another record-breaking  year

Family-owned chocolate producer Ritter Sport is celebrating another record-breaking year for UK sales: 2020 was the sixth consecutive year of growth for Ritter Sport since it launched its affiliate in the UK.

The square chocolate brand outperformed the total block chocolate market with growth of +37% YOY [1], +50% ahead of the category with 79% of Ritter Sport’s growth incremental to the total chocolate category [2]. In fact, Ritter Sport's sales outperformed the category in all channels. In Impulse its sales were ahead of the market by 2% points [1].


In addition to reporting record sales Ritter Sport also reported record levels of penetration growth at +59% vs 2019, significant growth in frequency ( of +6%) and spend per buyer of +14% [3].

“Ritter Sport’s relentless focus on doing the right things to create really good chocolate using only 100% certified, sustainably sourced cocoa and all-natural ingredients across our range, means we are perfectly positioned to meet the demands of today’s more conscious consumers," said Managing Director Ritter Sport UK & IRE Ben Daniels. "This fact, along with the brand’s impressive long-term sales performance and exciting NPD pipeline puts us in a great place as we move into 2021.”
