Ron Santiago de Cuba launches Casa del Daiquiri Second Edition

In celebration of International Daiquiri Day on 19th July, Ron Santiago de Cuba has partnered with a selection of the world’s leading bars and bartenders, bringing variations of the Daiquiri into the hands of rum and cocktail enthusiasts across UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Cuba, with the launch of the second edition of Casa Del Daiquiri.

After the success of last year’s programme, Casa Del Daiquiri by Ron Santiago de Cuba is being re-launched for another year, bringing together a collective of world-leading bartenders to create their own modern twist on the original recipe. Every creation will be available in each bar on the lead up to International Daiquiri Day in July and will be inducted into the Casa Del Daiquiri "Hall Of Fame".

Ron Santiago de Cuba is traditionally recognised as the highest expression of Cuban rum making tradition from the southeast of the island, known as the Cradle of Light Rum, where the

Caribbean Sea and the scorching sun all combine to create the perfect setting for a rum which has a sweet, smooth flavour profile, with the Extra Añejo 11-Year-Old in particular, proving to be the preferred variant for the beloved Daiquiri.

Ron Santiago de Cuba is not only the perfect choice for a naturally sweet yet balanced Daiquiri but it also shares geographical history with its place of birth, in the southeast of Cuba. One tale of how the first Daiquiri evolved, is attributed to the general manager of the Daiquiri mine. His granddaughter claims that he ran out of gin when some guests came to visit him, so he improvised with rum, lime juice and sugar. The drink was such a hit that it was decided it must be given a name. Therefore, in dedication to his mine and the village, he supposedly named it The Daiquiri.

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …
