Rude Health campaign to raise funds for 16,000 meals for vulnerable kids

Rude Health, a London-based oraganic food and drinks company, has partnered with Chefs in Schools to launch a campaign, #Flip2Feed, which aims to provide 16,000 meals to vulnerable children.

With £5 providing for four meals, the cowdfunding campaign has already secured 11,720 meals, raising £14,651 till now. The campaign hopes to hit the target of £20,000 before the 29 March deadline.

The initiative follows a new report from Food Foundation which found that 37 percent of children eligible for Free Schools Meals haven't received any food or support yet, despite promises of food vouchers and parcel provisions from the government.

This equates to 507,000 children missing out on free breakfasts and school lunches.

The charity Chefs in Schools, who usually transform school food by pairing restaurant quality chefs with schools in areas with high need, are now working with school staff, chefs and volunteers to provide meals to vulnerable children who no longer have access to free school meals.

Henry Dimbleby, school governor and co-founder of Chefs in Schools, said: “This crisis has revealed more starkly than ever the inequalities in our society. As a school governor and co-founder of Chefs in Schools, I’ve seen how continuing to provide free school meals while schools were closed has done something to alleviate this.

“More than half a million children are currently eligible for Free School Meals. This number is likely to increase significantly. It is critical that those families continue to get that support throughout the school holiday period and beyond.”

The campaign urges people to Flip a pancake and Feed by donating to www.crowdfunder.co.uk/flip2feed, before Nominating five people, on social media, email or whatsapp, to do the same.
