Rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit launches new energy drink brand with Welsh wholesaler

Former Welsh Rugby International and current NFL star Lewis Rees-Zammit has joined forces with a Welsh wholesaler to launch a new energy drink brand.

Launching Savitar, a brand new range of non-carbonated sports performance drinks, Rees-Zammit has appointed family-run Castell Howell Foods as the exclusive Welsh wholesaler for the brand.

The brand, which includes pre-, intra- and post-workout variants with a bespoke blend of vitamins to suit each level of activity, has been created by the rugby star and his team to support athletic excellence, using only top-quality ingredients.

His mission, he says, is simple: “to redefine the sports drink industry by offering a superior alternative to carbonated beverages – one that embodies the essence of athleticism and elevates the standards of hydration.”

Rees-Zammit also carried out research into the best solutions for distribution, appointing the Caterforce member, as exclusive partner.

“Having carried out extensive research into our options, Castell Howell quickly emerged as the number one choice,” he said. “The team fully understands the need to perform at your best, and they stood out as best in class from the first moment we met.

“I’m really looking forward to our partnership and the fantastic results that I will know we will achieve together.”

Haydn Pugh, Castell Howell Foods sales and marketing director, said: “We’re delighted to work with Lewis on this launch. From the moment he talked us through the Savitar product range, we knew it would be a fantastic addition to our portfolio, bringing something new and exciting to the category. This is just the beginning of a truly great partnership and, as a fellow Welsh business, we’re thrilled to be supporting its route to market.”

Savitar is available in three variants: Raspberry Pre-Workout, Tropical Intra Workout and Lime & Mango Post-Workout, via Castell Howell Foods.

How a hedge fund exodus reshaped global cocoa markets

Behind a record surge in cocoa prices this year, a corner of financial markets that drives the cost of chocolate underwent a seismic shift: the hedge funds that oiled its workings headed for the exit.

Confectionery prices, from candy bars to hot chocolate, are heavily influenced by futures contracts for cocoa beans. These financial instruments, traded in London and New York, allow cocoa buyers and sellers to determine a price for the commodity, forming a benchmark for sales across the world.
