Running to raise funds for the baby charity

Running to raise funds for the baby charity
Shane Nimmo

An industry executive is running the Birmingham Half Marathon on 7 May to raise funds for Tommy’s, the UK’s largest pregnancy and baby loss charity.

Shane Nimmo, convenience sales channel controller at Biotiful Gut Health, which produces cultured milk and oat-based Kefir drinks and snacks, said the charity is close to them as a family.

“I’m an incredibly proud father to Scarlett (7) and George (1). However that journey with Jenna to being incredibly lucky wasn’t straightforward and involved three miscarriages along the way,” Nimmo wrote in the fundraising note.

“What astounded me the most was how little anyone in a medical role seemed to know or understand about the reasons for miscarriages,” he added.

Tommy's funds medical research into the causes of premature birth, stillbirth and miscarriage, and provides an information service about health in pregnancy.

“The work Tommy’s does is making a real difference to helping make pregnancy safer,” Nimmo said.

Nimmo has raised £700 as of Saturday on the JustGiving page.
