Savour seasonal snacking sales with Jacob’s and Carr's

Savour seasonal snacking sales with Jacob’s and Carr's

pladis has unveiled its 2021 Christmas ranges from Jacob’s and Carr’s – comprising a variety of must-stock festive products to help retailers maximise seasonal sales.

The nation’s biggest savoury biscuit brand, Jacob’s, is back for 2021 with its best-selling range of Christmas Caddies, as well as a number of family-favourite selection boxes packed full of its classic crackers.

Meanwhile, pladis’s seasonal savoury range also encompasses its premium £10 million Carr’s brand, which will help retailers to drive sales amongst shoppers seeking something special from a brand renowned for its heritage.

“This year’s seasonal snacking sales are set to exceed 2020’s £161 million incremental opportunity as consumers look to make up for last year’s limitations and celebrate the season with larger groups of friends and family,” says Jonathan Bull, Marketing Director - Chocolate, Cake, Seasonal at pladis UK&I. “The good news is, this year’s Christmas line-ups for both Jacob’s and Carr’s are perfectly primed to help retailers capitalise on this.

“The trend towards togetherness continues to gain momentum, as Brits look to get together with friends and family after a testing year. This means that nibbly, sharing products, such as our bestselling Jacob’s caddies, along with selections of our everyday crackers – which are a must for any cheeseboard – will help retailers drive higher frequency of purchase.”

Bull continues: “Meanwhile, our Carr’s Seasonal Selection is a festive favourite and this – alongside new Carr’s Melts Warm Chilli flavour and Carr’s Melts Selection – is sure to encourage trade-up among seasonal shoppers, in turn driving higher value sales for our retail customers.”

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …
