SPAR starts season of goodwill with donation of home starter hampers to Lancashire Mind

SPAR has kicked-off the season of goodwill with the donation of a year’s supply of home starter hampers for charity Lancashire Mind.

The donation of the hampers will provide a helping hand to new tenants who are being supported by Lancashire Mind and are moving into one of the charity’s tenancy properties during 2022.

The hampers include a broad range of essentials to welcome tenants into their new home such as dried food staples, confectionery, and tinned foods, through to kitchenware, personal hygiene items and cleaning products.

James Hall & Co. Ltd, SPAR UK’s primary wholesaler and distributor for the North of England, has donated the hampers on behalf of SPAR, which is the UK’s leading convenience retail symbol.

It marks a development of the partnership between James Hall & Co. Ltd and Lancashire Mind after the company’s decision to sponsor and provide goody bag items for the charity’s Mental Elf 5K Fun Run taking place in Witton Park, Blackburn, this Sunday (5).

James Hall & Co. Ltd has also funded the production of mental health and wellbeing awareness booklets with Lancashire Mind aimed at supporting secondary school-age children during and post-pandemic.

Tom Murphy, Marketing Manager at James Hall & Co. Ltd, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to strengthen our partnership with Lancashire Mind as the charity provides incredible support to people across the Red Rose County who have a range of mental health and wellbeing conditions.

“There is a symmetry between the way we deliver for communities and the locations where

Lancashire Mind support people. SPAR’s brand strapline is ‘There for You’ and we have 129 stores in Lancashire, many of which are in communities where Lancashire Mind has a presence.

“It has never been more important to focus on your mental health, and to be able to access the tools to improve and maintain good mental health and wellbeing. The conversation is growing and getting louder, and we’re happy to add our support to amplify it further.”

Jeanette Colclough, Tenancy Management Lead at Lancashire Mind, said: “We’re very grateful for the continued support of SPAR through James Hall & Co. Ltd, and this donation of essential items is the perfect home starter pack to get our new tenants up and running.

“We currently have 60 tenancy properties across Lancashire, and we have taken a decision to grow the service as we anticipate the need for this will increase over the next few years.

“Often people who come to us arrive with nothing, so to have a welcome pack of goodies waiting for a tenant when they move into one of our properties is very helpful. It really will contribute hugely to a positive start to their journey with Lancashire Mind.”
