SPAR wholesalers James Hall and CJ Lang team up to relaunch Win With Every Goal campaign
Colin Hendry launched the Win With Every Goal campaign alongside Dominic Hall, Joint Managing Director of James Hall & Co. Ltd, and Colin McLean, Chief Executive Officer of CJ Lang & Son Ltd, at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
SPAR customers will have the chance to score again as Win With Every Goal returns to coincide with the biggest football tournament of the year.
SPAR wholesalers and distributors James Hall & Co. Ltd and CJ Lang & Son Ltd have put English and Scottish rivalries aside to team up for 2024, meaning Win With Every Goal is back bigger and better than before.
Customers in Northern England and Scotland will have a chance at winning instant rewards or have a shot at winning a £10,000 grand prize per region during the campaign which kicks off from 6 June and runs until 14 July.
With James Hall & Co. Ltd joining forces with CJ Lang & Son Ltd, it will see more than 750 SPAR stores participating in 2024 and a total prize pool increasing to more than £500,000 – five times more than in 2022.
Following the same process as last time, SPAR customers can visit everygoal.co.uk to submit their details and spin a virtual wheel which will randomly select their team. Customers must then choose to win an instant reward each time their team either scores or concedes.
Depending on their choice, they will receive text message alerts detailing their instant reward.
There will also be an online scratch card game available daily, offering participants the opportunity to win one of thousands of prizes. In total, there are over 400,000 instant rewards available to be won across the two SPAR regions.
All valid entries received will be entered into a daily prize draw for a chance to win two prizes of £200 every day – one for customers in Northern England and one for those in Scotland.
The first valid entry received per person and all instant reward grand prize entries will be entered into the grand prize draw to win £10,000 for customers from Northern England and £10,000 for those in Scotland.
Throughout the duration of the promotion, it will be supported by a comprehensive digital advertising campaign, and there will also be two SPAR trucks in Win With Every Goal livery driving the message home to SPAR customers on the roads of Northern England and Scotland.
Win With Every Goal has netted three industry awards since it last ran in 2022, and it was relaunched by another champion in Colin Hendry with the spectacular backdrop of Hampden Park in Glasgow.
Hendry, who captained Scotland at a major tournament, notably won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers in 1994-95 as well as a famous treble at Rangers in 1998-99 in a 20-year playing career.
“I’m very pleased to launch SPAR’s Win With Every Goal campaign for 2024. I have some good friends who work at SPAR and the work they do in supporting grassroots football in my home nation with the Scottish FA is important to me and something I value,” Hendry said.
“I think the beauty of Win With Every Goal is that it is free to play, and there is something in it for you as a player whether you get a major team or one of the smaller nations.
“It’s especially fun when you get that text message notification to say you have won a prize, and you can share your experience with family and friends too and get everyone playing it.
“The campaign looks superb and there truly are some great prizes to be won. I’m sure SPAR customers will support it enthusiastically like they did last time – and I will be one of them!”
Niels Dekkers, retail development director at James Hall & Co. Ltd said: “Excitement is building, and it was great to have Colin Hendry relaunch Win With Every Goal in 2024. Being a proud Scot who enjoyed much of his career with English clubs, he was the perfect ambassador for our campaign.
“We have had a tremendous uplift in contribution from our valued suppliers who saw the success of the last campaign, and our special thanks go to them for their support again.
“We are delighted to have our SPAR colleague at CJ Lang & Son Ltd on board and we cannot wait to turn football into footfall.”
Paula Middleton, head of marketing at CJ Lang & Son Ltd, said: “To have Hampden Park as the venue for the launch of Win With Every Goal was wonderful, and it really set the tone for the brilliant upcoming campaign we have in store for SPAR customers in Scotland.
“With the success of Win With Every Goal last time, it was an easy decision to make in joining together with our friends at James Hall & Co. Ltd to make the promotion even bigger and better in terms of its size and the quality of the prizes that are available.
“We are counting down the days now to the biggest football tournament of the year and kick off cannot come soon enough.”

Carlsberg have revealed their new, limited edition Christmas jumpers – in a Home knit and Away knit.
This social-first campaign puts a twist on the traditional football kit launch with a world-first ‘knit launch’ as the country gears up for Christmas. These special jumpers feature the iconic Carlsberg logo and hop leaf as the ‘club badge’ for a fabulous celebration of the brand’s strong links to football, as well as of all things festive.
Bringing the jumpers to life, a series of social videos sees models showcase the jumpers whilst sprinkling in a few recognisable footballer celebrations. Fans will have a chance to win one of these rare Christmas jumpers through an online competition on the brand’s social media channels.
The kit comes in two distinct variations: a green Carlsberg Danish Pilsner ‘Home’ kit, featuring the number 12 for the 12 days of Christmas, as well as a blue ‘Away’ kit for those who are celebrating Christmas away from home, with 00 on the back encouraging drivers to choose the alcohol-free Carlsberg 0.0.
“We had an amazing response from our followers to a mock-up Carlsberg Christmas jumper that we shared last year, and this year we wanted to give our fans an early Christmas gift by launching the real thing,” Sam Johnson, head of marketing, said.
“Carlsberg has such a strong association with football, and we wanted to celebrate this with these fantastic Christmas jumpers, whilst keeping the sense of humour the brand is renowned for. With a ‘knit launch’ in the colours of our classic Carlsberg Danish Pilsner and for our alcohol-free Carlsberg 0.0, we’re making sure everyone can be involved and enjoy the festive season responsibly.”
As part of the campaign, the brand is raising awareness of the Drinking Check from Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company’s responsible drinking charity partner, Drinkaware, with a social story encouraging fans to take the Check for a Christmas that is both ‘noughty’ and nice.
