Spirited Union Rum extends range with three new expressions

The world’s first botanical rum distillery, The Spirited Union Distillery in Amsterdam, has launched three new expressions in the UK, Queen Pineapple & Spice, Sweet Orange & Ginger and Pink Grapefruit & Rose. The new rum flavours are already available in the Netherlands and will roll out internationally during November and December 2020. The three expressions are the latest in the range which launched in 2019 with Spirited Union Spice & Sea Salt and the world’s first white botanical rum, Spirited Union Lemon & Leaf.

“We are continuing our quest to produce rums with real flavour; creating union between the vast and colourful world of botanicals to produce a range of exciting naturally-flavoured rums,” said Spirited Union Founder, Ruben Maduro. “Having lived and worked in Aruba in the Dutch Antilles, I looked to warmer climates for inspiration for our botanicals for these new expressions. Our Queen Pineapple & Spice has a taste of the tropics and the Sweet Orange & Ginger has a bite of ginger for Jamaican heat.”

Spirited Union Queen Pineapple & Spice Rum is made by macerating the flesh of the fruity Queen Victoria pineapple in Panamanian Rum. The natural sweetness of pineapple is balanced by infusing the rum with cassia wood and aromatic cinnamon, to finish with a bit of heat. Combining the two elements give a subtly sweet, yet surprisingly refreshing, spiced rum. These mini pineapples have a fragrant golden orange skin and bright yellow flesh. They are sweeter and more aromatic than more commonly found pineapples, resulting in a delicious rich aroma and complex fruity notes. RRP: £27.50 for 70cl bottle. 38% ABV.

Spirited Union Sweet Orange & Ginger Rum is made by infusing and distilling sweet oranges from Valencia & Curacao to give bright citrus notes to their cask-aged Jamaican rum. The hand-zested oranges add a rich citrus aroma and sweet taste which unite with fresh ginger root infused in the rum. RRP: £27.50 for 70cl bottle. 38% ABV

Spirited Union Pink Grapefruit & Rose Rum is made by distilling the skin of blush-pink grapefruits to match the refreshing floral taste of Swazi rum. The rum is enhanced with infused blood orange for a bitter-sweet sour taste and has been vapour-infused with fragrant garden rose petals and elderflower to give an intense floral aroma. The result is the perfect union of citrus and blossom. RRP: £27.50 for 70cl bottle. 38% ABV
