A buyer with almost half a million pounds to spend could become the new owner of an East Riding village’s Post Office which is now on the market.
The Post Office and shop in Main Road, Sproatley, has been listed on the Right Move property site for £475,000.
The building, in the village around four miles north of Hedon, is attached to a three-bedroom cottage which serves as accommodation for the shop owners.
The listing stated that an ambitious and energetic new owner could help boost business at the store which serves the village as the next closest store is three miles away.
The Post Office and convenience store business has been in the hands of its current owners since 2013, according to estate agents Christie & Co who are handling the sale.
The store is listed for a retirement sale but the buyer would be required to keep the business going if they took it on.
It currently employs five part-time staff who run the store day-to-day who would have to be kept on under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations (TUPE).
The listing stated sales at the store currently total around £10,000-a-week including VAT, while the Post Office brings in around £32,000-a-year in salaries and commissions.
It added the store is also home to an Amazon Hub.
The current opening hours of the shop are 6am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 7.30am to 7pm on Sundays.
The Post Office is open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, until 12.30pm on Saturday and is closed on Sunday.
The attached cottage features three double bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, back garden and double garage.
The listing stated the store was a great opportunity for a family, first-time buyer or current business owner looking to expand.
