Unitas and partners launch new Plan for Profit guides

Unitas and partners launch new Plan for Profit guides
Matt Nuttall

To support independent retailers across the UK, Unitas Wholesale has launched a brand-new series of mini category guides, "Focus On" by Plan for Profit, covering specific categories that typically feature in an independent convenience store.

The newest editions of “Focus On” guides include key insights and advice developed in partnership with PepsiCo Walkers, on the Snacks category and Mars Wrigley on the Gum & Mints categories. The guides are specifically designed for independent retailers and highlight the opportunities that each mini category presents.

Plan for Profit Category Controller, Tracey Redfearn, explains how the new initiative can help retailers: "The NEW Focus On guidance complements the portfolio of business tools we already make available to independent retailers through Plan for Profit. We now have a total of four Focus On mini category guides that provide the crucial information required by independent retailers to grow the specific categories featured, with further editions covering a variety of categories planned to support them throughout 2021."

The first four editions of Focus On are available free at participating Unitas member wholesalers, and also free to download via the Plan for Profit website and app.

Unitas Wholesale will be launching more “Focus On” guides throughout 2021 with printed copies available in selected Unitas Wholesale member depots. Digital versions are available to view and download at www.planforprofit.co.uk or via the Plan for Profit app - search "Plan for Profit" to download it from your preferred app store.

Pernod Ricard UK ignites festive spirit with marketing push

As December rapidly approaches, Pernod Ricard UK is ramping up its festive marketing efforts, anticipating a resurgence in consumer confidence after a challenging year. The UK’s second-largest wine and spirits supplier is set to inspire consumers to choose Premium+ Spirits as the perfect gift or the ultimate addition to any home celebration. Throughout 2024, Premium+ Spirits have consistently outperformed Standard offerings, making this higher end of the sector a vital margin driver.

“Since last Christmas, consumer confidence has been on the rise and the outlook for the final month of 2024 is positive," said Chris Shead, Off-Trade Channel Director for Pernod Ricard UK. "Gifting and hosting remain two key trends and retailers should focus on increasing space in-store for Premium Spirits that act as the perfect gift or cocktail ingredient when wanting to show off in front of friends and family. Where possible, we encourage retailers to prioritise categories that have been capturing the hearts of consumers and this year, our big winners have been Altos Tequila, Kahlúa and Bumbu Rum, and we expect our Champagnes, G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, to be the toast of choice for festive parties this year.”
