Unitas launches Impulse Category guide 2022

Plan for Profit 2022 – Impulse Category Guide

Unitas Wholesale is pleased to announce the launch of brand-new Plan for Profit Impulse Category Guide, which highlights the must stock core range lines for independent retailers across confectionery, sweet snacking, crisps, and soft drinks.

This guidance is updated annually to reflect changing customer behaviours and is developed alongside our supporting category experts, and a network of wholesalers. Backed by the latest market data, this guide offers a truly credible core range tailored to the needs of independent retailers.

New for 2022

The design of latest impulse guide has been simplified, with icons to easily identify the best sellers within each sub-category and those that are new to the core range. VAT-free products are clearly signposted, along with price marked packs to reflect the important role these products play in improving shopper confidence and driving value. The guide also contains regional products to help with store profiling across different parts of the UK.

In addition to the core range listing, the wholesaler has included planograms and a greater focus on category insights within this year’s edition, enabling retailers to make a much more informed decision about the products they stock. This impulse guide also includes High Fat Sugar & Salt Regulation Guidance, provided by the ACS, to help retailers prepare for this important new legislation coming into effect from October 2022.

Accessing Plan for Profit guides:

- Printed copies of the new Plan for Profit Impulse Category Guide are available in selected Unitas Wholesale member depots.

- An online version of the guide can be accessed at www.planforprofit.co.uk and via the Plan for Profit app, which is available to download on apple and android devices.

- The link to access the guide online is https://www.planforprofit.co.uk/pfp-impulse-2022/

The complete Plan for Profit core range guide is available in three separate editions, which enables to keep the advice up to date and relevant to the key trading and seasonal times of the year. In addition to the new Impulse Category Guide, retailers can access separate booklets for Grocery, Non-Food, Chilled & Frozen, as well as Licensed & Tobacco.

Budget 2024: Local shops to face significant new pressure

Local shops will face significant new pressures as a result of today’s Budget, the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has warned.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves' budget's impact will be felt unevenly across the UK’s 50,000 convenience stores, with some measures such as business rate relief and the increased employment allowance mitigating costs for smaller independent stores, while providing no help for chains and larger independent businesses.
