Westons Cider unveils on-pack promo for Stowford Press

Leading cider maker Westons Cider has announced an on-pack promotion for its Stowford Press range across the off-trade.

Stowford Press has experienced huge success in both grocery and convenience channels, growing 45.5 per cent YOY to reach a value of £10.1 million. In light of this sustained consumer demand, the ‘Stowford Press Big Night In’ promotion offers retailers a substantial opportunity to capitalise on the brand's momentum during the rugby world cup, Halloween and the festive period, the firm said.

Rolling out from August the promotion will run until March 2024 across Stowford Press Apple Cider ten and four-packs, as well as the new Stowford Press Low Alcohol cans offering retailers an extended window to boost sales. Valued at £2,000, the winning prize includes everything for a celebratory night in with friends, all accompanied by Stowford Press.

To further support the campaign, Westons Cider is also running an extensive OOH campaign across 695 sites close to key retailers from the end of August.

“Stowford Press is seeing phenomenal success and is now worth over £110m across the on and off trade in the UK. This competition offers retailers a fantastic opportunity to make the most of consumer excitement as cider season extends its charm beyond the summer months,” sai Sally McKinnon, head of marketing at Westons Cider.

“Our classic apple cider has long been a favourite amongst consumers, while our low alcohol cans launched earlier this year and are already proving popular. As the nights draw in, many shoppers will look forward to hostingevenings packed with entertainment and fun with friends and family – accompanied by a healthy dose of competition and, of course, toasting with their favourite cider.”

To be in with a chance of winning, shoppers simply enter the promotional code from the packs on the Westons website. The grand prize includes a Smart TV, Speaker Bar, PS5 Console and game, Wireless Speaker, £250 supermarket or takeaway voucher, a 12-month TV streaming subscription along with brandedpint glasses to accompany a pack of refreshing Stowford Press cider.

Consumers will also have ten extra chances to win a supermarket or takeaway voucher worth £100 to enjoy along with a Stowford Presscider during the promotional period.

Run by the fourth generation of the Weston family, Stowford Press – based in Herefordshire – also produces brands Henry Westons, Old Rosie, Rosie’s Pig and distributes Veltins German Pilsener in the UK.

Gnaw ‘new-stalgia’: pud-themed Chocolate Spoons and flavoured choc bars

Tapping into “new-stalgia” (an anticipated hot food trend in 2025), Gnaw has been working tirelessly to rethink Great British puddings by creating a number of “Hug in a Mug” classics (Crème Brulée, Bakewell Tart, Sticky Toffee Pud) in conjunction with an impressive “pudfolio” of dessert-flavoured bars: New York Cheesecake, Christmas Pudding, Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Desserts may prove divisive. For many the last course will always be a fitting finale to a great meal spent with friends of family, enticing comfort food that offers a nostalgic peek into happy custard drenched, ice cream topped memories from yesteryear. For others, desserts are an unwitting dalliance with guilt-filled soft sponges, buttery pastry, seductively sweet fillings, crumbly toppings, sticky sauces …

Swizzels partners with Co-op Live for sweet experience

This November, visitors to the Co-op Live arena are in for a sweet surprise with the chance to immerse themselves in the world of Swizzels Squashies and to win treats and prizes at a Squashies experience zone.

As the official sweets supplier to Co-op Live, British sweet maker Swizzels will host the Squashies experience zone from November 15 to 30. Over the two-week period, a star-studded line-up of global music and comedy acts will headline the venue.

Visitors to the UK’s largest entertainment venue can gain exclusive access to the Squashies zone where fans are encouraged to squash up and snap a selfie on the first-ever Squashies sofa.

Featuring the signature pink and white colours of Swizzels’ Original Drumstick Squashies, the sofa is set to be a crowd-pleaser, inviting couples, friends, and family to cozy up and savour the moment together.

Fans can also get their hands on thousands of free Squashies and take part in a spin-the-wheel game to fun prizes. There will also be the chance to win tickets to see other global artists perform at Coop Live.

“Our partnership with Co-op Live has proved to be a real success so far, and Squashies have been a popular purchase across the venue," said Sarah-Louise Heslop, Head of Marketing at Swizzels. "Through this experiential event, we hope to sweeten music lovers’ visits to the arena, offering them the chance to sample Squashies, take part in some fun games, and snap and share some pictures on our brand-new Squashies-inspired sofa.”

Since forming a partnership with Co-op Live for its opening earlier this year, several different flavours of Squashies have been available to purchase at the venue, and Swizzels has also provided personalised rolls of its iconic Love Hearts to performers. Visitors to the premium area of the arena are also able to purchase Swizzels hampers containing a mix of fan favourites.
