Women’s Day and Mother’s Day: Flower sales projected to surpass £30,000 at Ilford store this weekend

Jet New North Road in Ilford, London predicts sales of flowers will soar this weekend during International Women’s Day (IWD) and Mother’s Day - with sales expected to top £30,000.

Over 12,000 tulips, 9,000 roses and 5-6,000 other varieties of flowers, including lilies, are expected to be sold over the next few days.

According to the retailer, roses are the most purchased flower on IWD, a day that is particularly popular among the local Eastern European community, and tulips are the top choice for Mother’s Day.

New North Road has become well-known locally for selling exceptional bouquets, with top-quality flowers sourced from Amsterdam and Kenya.

Run by Janu Patel and his family for more than 20 years, the flower offer has been a passion project for Janu for many years – and it’s proved to be a profitable one. Another £20,000 of flower sales was recorded only a month ago, during Valentine’s Day.

Jet New North Rd re-opened in 2021 following a major refurbishment of the forecourt and retail offer including the distinctive blue and yellow Jet branding, new canopy lighting and a Spar shop – with Janu’s famous flowers taking centre stage.
