Wrexham Lager Beer Co enters Scottish off-trade with new wholesaler listing

Wrexham Lager Beer Co enters Scottish off-trade with new wholesaler listing

The Wrexham Lager Beer Co, the oldest lager brewery in Great Britain, said it has secured a new listing across its lager and export range with major Scottish wholesaler, United Wholesale Grocers.

The listings will take effect from mid-October, with the Wrexham Lager 440ml Export Cans and Wrexham Lager 440ml cans being distributed to some Day-Today stores in Scotland, as well as supplied to independent retailers across the country.

The long-term order agreement with United Wholesale Grocers marks the brand’s official entry into the off-trade sector in Scotland as part of its ambitious expansion plan, further solidifying the brand’s growing presence in the market.

Industry specialist James Wright who was hired as chief executive for The Wrexham Lager Beer Co celebrates his one-year anniversary with the brand this month, and since his appointment, the business has seen momentous growth across UK and international markets.

“We are thrilled to secure our first wholesale partnership in Scotland. As another key market in our expansion strategy, this opportunity allows us to bring our rich brewing heritage and premium lager to a wider audience. We’re delighted The Wrexham Lager Beer Co will be available to buy from stores which have been serving communities for decades,” Wright said.

“The team has worked incredibly hard this year and our ambitious expansion plan is going from strength to strength. It’s a fantastic achievement to be supplying the convenience sector and distributing with United Wholesale Grocers. Waqas Badar and Amman Ramzan from the team have been very supportive of our brand and we look forward to continuing this relationship. Expanding into the off-trade sector is a key part of our growth strategy, and we’re delighted to take this significant step forward.”

Wrexham has had a global spotlight on the city since the launch of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ on Disney+, and this has helped deliver incremental growth for the business. Recently the business has secured listings with leading importers in the Scandinavian markets and Australia.
